About once a week Jane is late for school. To be honest our timing's in the morning are quite tight anyway and it’s always a chance that something might happen on our way to school but could make us late. But in most circumstances the truth is that Jane is late to school because she is a young carer.

My CarersWeek 2019
This week is Carers Week for 2019. My week will like many others, full of highs and lows, based mostly on the highs and lows of my kids. I have three kids and although I'm 'mum' to all three, I'm also a parent carer to my sons Anthony, age 11 and David, age eight.

TimeToTalk to parents of kids with SEND
What's it like to bring up a child with additional needs? It can be wonderful, amazing and full of things I never thought possible. But it can also be very tiring and stressful. And as it's mental health awareness week, it seems a good time to share.

Special educational needs parents need to look after their mentalhealth
What's it like to bring up a child with additional needs? It can be wonderful, amazing and full of things I never thought possible. But it can also be very tiring and stressful, and for many it can have a serious impact on their mental health. And as it's mental health awareness week, it seems a good time to share.

Cherished Charity: From Author, Journalist & Campaigner Stephanie Nimmo
This week I'm delighted to start my new blogging series called Cherished Charities. I was at a local Mayor's event when someone from another charity said, "No one has really heard of us unless they need us, it's so hard to raise funds." I understood. After all I was there with a charity that I loved because they were there when we needed them. So I thought I'd create a small opportunity for people to share the charities important to them here. And I start with a brilliant one from this fantastic person, Stephanie Nimmo.

5 ways to get sleep when you are kept awake
I've spoken to so many new parents, parents of children with additional needs and carers, whose primary issue of the day is that they are exhausted. Every mother reads about 'baby brain' as the baby keeps you up at night but no two kids are the same. Some babies sleep through from a few weeks, others a few months and despite efforts some kids need help for years through their life.

#WonderfulWednesday: The challenges of positive relationships for parents and carers
This week's wonderful Wednesday share is from Being Toby's Mummy and is called 'The challenges of positive relationships for parents and carers' supporting Mental Health Awareness Week last week.
It's a lovely post that gives some great ideas on how to have with external relationships when you have extra stresses like having a child with additional needs. Being Toby's Mummy picks up on some lovely points.
