WonderfulWednesday: UndiagnosedDay

child with magnifying glass

This week's wonderful Wednesday share is a shout out to a few people raising awareness of those undiagnosed. Last Friday was Undiagnosed Day.

When our eldest son appeared to be developing differently to other kids we did a bit of investigating. By the time my husband and I received his first official diagnosis, ASD, around the age of four years old, we had already reached this conclusion ourselves.

Since then it's membership of the NAS, meetings and attendance at Early Bird courses and more. And it was the same when David was diagnosed with ASD, and then Anthony with ADHD and then both with hypermobility and so on.  And their diagnoses have been vital in their care.

Each time, there was a reason and something to understand. The idea that their difficulties might not have a 'diagnosis' never even occurred.  But actually there are some 6,000 families a year that experience just this.  And knowing about the other 5,999 would surely be a good thing?

So here's some highlights from Undiagnosed Day via some bloggers I love.

These are some great posts, have a read and help to spread word.

  2. I definitely feel for people who have not had a diagnosis - and I often feel guilty that our girl got hers at such a young age. #PostsFromTheHeart

  3. I loved reading all of these posts. We are currently without a diagnosis or prognosis for our youngest and it's such a different experience than having a clear route to follow like we did with th eldest. Thank you so much for sharing this with us at #PostsFromTheHeart
