Guess How Much I Love You

How much I Love You Snuggle Book

Books have always played a big role in our home. From helping our autistic boys access their imagination to immersing the all our children in words - books provide a source of education and fun for our family. We use basic books to label items to help increase vocabulary.  One of the greatest opportunities is that of shared attention or activity.  The joy and skill of doing something together and what better way to do that than with a snuggle book.

Just as in the summer, I encouraged kids to chill out in the shade with some book time, I think as it turns into autumn, snuggling up with one together is great too. Some of the best interactions we've had with David have been around letters and books are a way we can engage him. Like 25% of people with autism, David is still pre-verbal and the first time he signed 'hug' was so special. There really is nothing like a snuggle and that feeling you get when you connect with your child.

How much I Love You Snuggle Book

So I'm delighted to run a giveaway of the 'Guess How Much I Love You' Snuggle Book written by Sam McBratney and published by Walker Books. This gorgeously soft bedtime Guess How Much I Love You Snuggle Cloth Book has been created from a story that is a favourite all over the world.

It tells the story of Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare and how they play as they try to express their love for one another. As each tries to outdo the other, they discover that love is not an easy thing to measure! David's autism may mean he is a five year old who hardly speaks, but I remember the joy I had the first time he said something that resembled 'I love you' - that wasn't an easy thing to measure either!

How much I Love You Snuggle Book

This "snuggle book" version has been stripped right down to three sentences from the original story, these are: "I love you this much," "I love you as high as I can hop," and "I love you right up to the moon and back" and is beautifully illustrated by Anita Jeram,

It is a wonderfully soft bedtime companion that is safe for any baby to snuggle up with so they can enjoy books straight away.  As they grow they can also enjoy the lovely activities that accompany the book on www.guesshowmuchiloveyou.com

The book retails for £9.99.  I have one copy to giveaway by the end of October and will post within the UK, Good luck and I hope it brings you or whoever you give the book to a special connection time with their little one too.

  8. We have the hardback version of this book, and it's always been a hit with my eldest!! The youngest, who loves snuggly things, would love this-he's always trying to take books to bed! At least with this, it'd be a lovely soft and safe book to take! How lovely that your son signs 'hug' to you-that must make for quite a moment for you.
